Shuzo Nishimura

Shuzo Nishimura is currently the Director-General of the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research (NIPSSR), a research arm of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in Japan. He was Economics Professor in Graduate School of Economics, Kyoto University. He graduated from Kyoto University. Research Fellow of Harvard University, he worked in Yokohama National University. Applying the System Theory, he analyzes the relationship between medical services and costs, aiming at an establishment of new fields of Economics such as Clinical Economics, etc. His specialized research field includes Health Economics, Public Economics, Economics of Insurance and Social Security Study. He has participated in the research projects including "Comprehensive study on Social Security Statistics" and "The Studies on Human Resource Aspects of Social Services and Financing of Social Security System" (Health and Labour Sciences Research Grants).
