At UBWRFC we like to have a laugh both on and off the pitch.

We offer high calibre training for those players keen to take their game to the next level, and a supportive mother-daughter scheme to help those new to the sport get fit and up to standard fast. Training takes place twice a week at the fantastic Coombe Dingle Sports complex, Stoke Bishop. Matches take place on Wednesday afternoons, and alternate between being home matches (hosted at Coombe Dingle) or away. There's no doubt that on these occasions the side-lines are rammed with other club members and friends of both teams, creating a tense and exciting atmosphere for the full 80 minutes.
We also arrange a massive Varsity event each year at the Memorial Stadium, against our rivals, the University of West England. Though our Varsity match is weighted the same as all other matches we play in terms of league standing, it is a matter of club pride that we win.

Have a look at some pictures of last season's matches and Varsity 2010 in our gallery.

But that's not all.

Socialising is heavily encouraged at UBWRFC, and the 'work hard - play hard' mentality is shared by all. Team spirit is a resounding feature of our club which at our most recent AGM was voted by members as it's best aspect.
Wednesday night is 'Sports night' in Bristol, which means every sports team runs a social for its members - which pretty much guarantees a massive night! UBWRFC is by no means an exception to this rule as our Social Secretary organises a time and place where everyone can meet for pre-drinks in addition to discounted club entry, which can be paid for on Monday night training sessions. Our club also arranges team fancy dress for 'Score', a massive event that takes place once a term usually at Oceana or Bunker and probably the best night out you'll ever have. Unlike most clubs or societies, we are accepting of all talent or skill. Perhaps most importantly the atmosphere is not a hostile one. All members are dedicated to training not only because they enjoy them, but because 'bitchy' behaviour is not tolerated.
We went on tour!
During the Easter break of last season, members of our squad went on tour to Costa Brava, Spain and played against some formidable opponents on some World-class turf. We're quite lucky as a club because very few other sports clubs from Bristol offer the opportunity to go on tour. Last season's was a storming success to say the least, with members of the team desperate to go again next year. Over the five days we spent in Spain, there was time to enjoy the sandy beach (aka get an awesome tan) meet thousands of people from all over the UK, play rugby (obviously) visit Barcelona, shop and even experience the rocking local night-life.

Calling it an incredible experience really doesn't cover it.
