Name
1. The name of the Club shall be Bristol University Canoe Club (BUCC).
2. The Club shall be affiliated to the University of Bristol Athletic
Union.
3. The Club shall be affiliated to the British Canoe Union.
Aims
The aims of the Club is to promote canoeing at all levels of ability
and competition amongst members of the University of Bristol Union.
Membership
1. All members of the Union are entitled to Club membership upon
receipt of the current Club subscription fee, and providing that they
hold a Sport and Recreation card.
2. Honorary members of the Club may be appointed by the Committee.
Associate Membership
Associate members will hold full membership to the Club at no extra
charge but will be restricted to the following conditions:
1. An annual subscription is paid to the Club.
2. Associate members do not compete for the club at inter-university
level competition (e.g.BUSA) but may compete at any other level.
3. Associate membership shall not exceed 25% of the total membership.
Team Colours
1. In keeping with the University of Bristol colours, when competing
for the university, the club shall wear maroon, black and white (excluding
existing equipment, inc. boats and safety wear).
Committee
a ) The Committee shall be composed of:
1. Club Captain
2. Club Treasurer
3. Club Secretary
There will also be the following non-official officers:
1. Vice Captain
2. Social Secretary
3. Equipment Officer
4. Polo Rep
5. Communications Officer
b ) The Committee is responsible for the general and financial
policy of the Club and is governed by the regulations of the Athletic
Union.
c ) All Committee members must be full members of the Athletic
Union.
d ) If any Committee member fails to attend more than two consecutive
Committee meetings without very good cause or is seen by the Committee
not to be doing their job properly, the Committee may choose to re-elect
their post at the Committees discretion, at an EGM.
e ) If any Committee member gives up canoeing there may be
an automatic re-election, at the Committees discretion, for their
post, at an EGM, which they may stand for if they wish.
Finance
1. The Club Treasurer shall not be in their final year at the University.
2. The accounts of the Club shall be audited by the Senior Treasurer,
a member of the University staff once a year.
General Meetings
1. The elections for officers of the Club for the following session
shall take place at the beginning of the Summer Term at the Annual
General Meeting.
2. Nominations will be received by the Club Secretary at any time
in the two weeks before the meeting.
3. Nominees must be proposed and seconded.
Constitutional Amendments
1. Any amendments to this constitution must be carried out by a majority
of two thirds of the members present and voting at a properly constituted
General Meeting.
2. All such amendments must be submitted for ratification to the Athletic
Union Committee.
