I have held editorial positions with internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals - Medical Law Review, Journal of Social Welfare and Family Law and the Journal of Law & Society and I have delivered numerous conference and seminar papers both nationally and internationally, including a number of invited contributions.

Areas of expertise |
My main research and teaching interests are in medical & mental health law, tort law and criminal law & justice. My monograph Care or Custody? Mentally Disordered Offenders in the Criminal Justice Systemwas published by Oxford University Press in 1999 and was awarded a prestigious SLS prize for Outstanding Legal Scholarship by a Younger Scholar in 2000. My research has been published in a number of internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals. In 2004, I assisted with editing and co-authored a chapter in the second edition of Principles of Medical Law (Oxford University Press) and I am currently working on the third edition.
