Areas of expertise |
As a member of the Electrical Energy Management Group and of the Aerospace Dynamics and Systems research-group, my current research encompasses novel power electronics, electrical machines and sensing systems for wide range of applications including the ‘More Electric Aircraft’, energy harvesting, and environmental sensing. My research team is currently funded by industry and the ESPRC and NERC. I am a member of the NERC peer review college, dealing with technology applied to environmental research.
Current research projects include;
Vibration energy harvesting using non-linear systems
Electrical tuning of mechanical systems.
Current source inverters for aerospace applications
Novel sensor systems for extreme environments – e.g. sub-glacial. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8402704.stm)
