Educating our future animal professionals

Being an essential facility in an educational organisation means we have to be aware of the latest techniques in animal slaughter and butchery, as well as keeping up-to-date with recent research.

Students from the University of Cambridge and Royal Veterinary College join our own students from the University of Bristol to learn in our abattoir, a unique facility for the Bristol Veterinary School. Learning in an abattoir is an essential part of veterinary training, and an experience all qualified vets must have in order to fulfil their role in safeguarding both public health and the welfare of animals under their care. The abattoir is also used for educational purposes by agricultural colleges and the catering industry.

If you have a query about using our facilities for educational purposes please contact us.
