Orthopaedic
The research group includes both orthopaedic and soft tissue clinicians. Much of the work is conducted around naturally occurring clinical problems in dogs and cats and their diagnosis and treatment. Clinical research within the group encompasses a wide array of themes related to the clinical expertise of each member of the group. Some clinicians in this group are involved in basic and clinical research projects and collaborate with other research groups at the Bristol Veterinary School and connect into the wider University of Bristol.
CLINICAL ORTHOPAEDIC RESEARCH
Specific and ongoing areas of clinical research in veterinary orthopaedics include
- Patella fracture And Dental anomaly Syndrome (PADS) in cats
- Effect of ageing and renal disease on feline bone stiffness
- Lameness evaluation in cats
- Humeral intracondylar fissure fractures in Spaniels, outcome and aetiology, and surgical complication rates
- Cruciate disease – the sit test
- Slipped capital femoral epiphyses in cats
