Description including Unit Aims

Ireland is often been described as 'England's oldest colony', yet the usefulness of applying colonial interpretations to its past is a hotly contested issue amongst historians. The period between 1200 and 1600 saw two waves of migration from Britain to Ireland, and it is the similarities and differences between these two movements of people which this unit sets out to explore.
