Description including Unit Aims

The student shall undertake a piece of research involving an in-depth enquiry into an aspect of systems engineering with direct relevance to industry. The student shall be responsible for the creation of the research strategy and methodology, for the undertaking of the research, for the writing of a dissertation that reports and interprets the results.

Intended Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the unit, the students will be able to:

  • undertake an original research activity
  • plan and prepare a concise, written technical report
  • adopt a high standard of record keeping and management of information.

Teaching Information

Ongoing project supervision provided by project supervisor(s). Students will also have access to skills training workshops and online resources covering topics from project management and managing your supervisor to writing up your thesis.
