Only open to MBChB students.
Intended Learning Outcomes
- Know the basic anatomy of the musculoskeletal system and surgical approaches
- Have a general knowledge of the pathogenesis, clinical features and management of common disorders in rheumatology and orthopaedics
- Know how to approach the management of patients with common musculoskeletal disorders
- Taking responsibility for their own learning and progression
- Development of a professional manner
- Define normal physiological parameters within the field of emergency medicine
- Understand the significance of abnormal observations in the recognition of a critically unwell patient
- Define ABC approach in the context of an acutely unwell patient
- Be able to decide when to use a 'focussed history and examination' and when to opt for the 'ABC approach'
- Be able to assess a critically ill or injured patient using a structured 'ABC approach'
- Acquire a knowledge and understanding of the diagnosis, clinical features and management of common disorders in ophthalmology
- Acquire and demonstrate proficiency in communication and the other essential skills of ophthalmology
- Acquire and demonstrate attitudes essential to the practice of opthalmology

- Clinical component (contributes 50% of unit mark)
Comprising: -history taking -clinical examination -clinical reasoning relating to musculoskeletal system, emergency medicine and opthalmology
- Written component (contributes 50% of unit mark)
