Description including Unit Aims

This unit will introduce students to the fundamental concepts of experimental dynamic testing techniques for engineering systems. Topics covered will include actuation, control, data aquisition, error analysis, signal processing and scaling. Students will be given a series of laboratory experiments to perform, in three of the new BLADE laboratories. These will be written up as laboratory reports in the usual way. Following this, students will have to complete two 'mini' research projects. One will (usually) be based on an extension of the topicof one of the laboratory experiments. The other will (usually) be developed into the student's main MSc project.
