Description including Unit Aims

This unit provides students with an introduction to some of the most frequently used econometric techniques in econometric modelling with data taken from individual economic agents (micro data). The unit emphasises models with limited dependent variables but may also discuss other topics such as heteroscedasticity and models estimated with panel data. The unit covers theory and introduces students to relevant applied work.

Intended Learning Outcomes

By introducing students to some of the key models used in microeconometric modeling, this unit will enable them to understand and critically evaluate applied work in the broad area of microeconomics, but also beyond that in macroeconomics, public economics or political economy.

Students will be able to use the techniques involved in their dissertations.
