The course has three main themes: tracing the historical developments in information and communications technology (ICT) in organisations with particular attention to the changing role of information technology and systems including the internet and e-business; reviewing the ways in which ICT is being used to facilitate radical transformation of organisations including processes, structures, the work redesign of different groups of employees, strategic alliances, the redefinition of business activities and knowledge management; examining the strategic and management implications of ICT utilisation in organisations with an emphasis on competitive leverage and advantage in a global business environment.
