This is an introductory unit in preliminary teaching skills, aimed at preparing students for entry into the profession of teaching English as a foreign language. It focuses on the central aspects of the teaching process such as language awareness, the roles of teacher and learner, and the principles and practice of effective teaching. It develops the students' ability to handle the key components of the language system of English, as well as the four skills. Students will also be able to identify opportunities for their future development as professionals in the field.
