This unit is designed as a sequel to the unit ‘A Taste of Education’ and will offer students an opportunity to gain further insight into two subject areas considered on the earlier unit – literature and one other (to be chosen in response to student feedback on the prior unit). In addition, students will be offered an opportunity to gain a variety of relevant study skills, particular in relation to writing essays.
Students will have had an opportunity (i) to study two subject areas that were introduced on the unit ‘A Taste of Education’; (ii) to gain relevant skills, particularly in relation to writing essays; and (iii) to consider further opportunities to continue their studies beyond these units.
Seminars
Students will be assessed through one essay (ii), of up to 2000 words. The essay will focus on one of the subject areas considered. Students will be expected to state and reflect within the essay on why they have chosen this area (i) and how the work they have done might relate to their plans for further study beyond the unit (iii).
