Description including Unit Aims

An examination of the theory and practice of organisational intervention and consultancy. Students will be encouraged to reflect on their existing practice and their experiences of consultancy in the light of an emerging body of academic theory. The module will consider the nature and practice of a wide variety of consultancies from the international groups to independent freelance consultants. Students will consider large-scale and micro-interventions, standard models for organisational development and approaches to group problem solving. We will also examine facilitation skills including coaching and mentoring.
