Description including Unit Aims

The aim of this module is to develop students’ knowledge of organisational and management issues.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Following completion of this module students will be able to:

  • discuss the differing organisational issues in different work environments, such as the health service and the voluntary and charitable sectors
  • delineate the skills required for personnel selection and recruitment
  • discuss the roles of assessment, appraisal and revalidation in educational supervision, training and continuing professional development of junior and senior colleagues
  • discuss the reasons for resistance to change and ways to facilitate and implement change within the workplace.

Teaching Information

Two day block Seminars Group discussion and problem solving exercises

Assessment Information

Project work relevant to the organisation/management/management of change occurring in the students’ place of work.
