Description including Unit Aims

The aim for this unit is to give every design student an introduction to working in a multi-disciplinary group project. The students will undertake at least one design-build-test project involving the specification, conceptual design, detail design, construction and testing of an engineering artefact.

Intended Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of the unit the student will be able to

	outline the role of the design process in produce development, and describe its general structure;






understand systems design, and the role of trade-off & compromise in a multi-disciplinary project. understand the role of teamwork in design; take a simple design exercise from specification through to delivery of a manufactured artifact. contribute to a multi-disciplinary group project in design
