Description including Unit Aims

During this unit students will conduct a research-based project on a topic related to the field of stem cell biology and regeneration.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Students successfully completing this module will:

• Be able to undertake a literature search in their field of study
• Be capable of designing and undertaking a research project
• Be able to critically analyse data and presenting findings

Assessment Information

Summative Assessment:

• Critical literature review or laboratory based project contributing 75% to the unit mark
• Poster presentation contributing 10% to the unit mark
• Viva examination contributing 15% to the unit mark

The unit pass-mark is 50%

How much time the unit requires

Assessment
The Board of Examiners will consider all cases where students have failed or not completed the assessments required for credit. The Board considers each student's outcomes across all the units which contribute to each year's programme of study. If you have self-certificated your absence from an assessment, you will normally be required to complete it the next time it runs (this is usually in the next assessment period).
The Board of Examiners will take into account any extenuating circumstances and operates within the Regulations and Code of Practice for Taught Programmes.
