The Unit consists of 20 lectures that cover a variety of topics within the general area of cancer biology. The Unit begins with a series of lectures that introduce the general area of cancer biology and research. These are followed by lectures that explore the cellular and molecular basis of human carcinogenesis, illustrated using current research areas and including descriptions of techniques used.
By the end of the Unit the students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of a variety of specialist topics related to cancer biology. The students should also be able to describe a variety of relevant experimental techniques and their applications in the general areas of cancer biology, detection prevention and treatment.
Lectures
A 150 minute examination with MCQ-based short answer questions marked electronically combined with essay questions.
