Description including Unit Aims

This unit provides a pre-conceptual design overview of technical decision making, vehicle design, systems integration and sizing for a selected AENG3M2023 group design project. Students will work as a part of the same teams that carry out the group design project with input from major industries.

Intended Learning Outcomes

On completion of this unit the student will be able to:-

  • perform design layout synthesis, initial sizing and minimum goal formulation at the conceptual design stage
  • interact and communicate effectively in a goal oriented technical team
  • understand the management of large group projects
  • communicate clearly through oral and written presentation within a group, and to assist the group in publicising its findings
  • realise the challenges of managing the design of a high-value manufacturing product
