This unit will introduce students to a range of Italian short fiction, selected from different periods and different genres. Students will engage in critical analysis of the texts and consider the ways in which texts reflect the contexts in which they were produced.
Successful students will be able to demonstrate:
1. knowledge of a range of Italian short fiction drawn from a range of periods and styles;
2. a familiarity with, and an ability to deploy, appropriate critical skills to discuss and analyse Italian fiction;
3. skills of formal written and oral presentation appropriate to level C.
Teaching will be delivered through a combination of synchronous sessions and asynchronous activities, including seminars, lectures, formative tasks and collaborative as well as self-directed learning opportunities supported by tutor consultation

1 x 2000 word essay (75%), ILOs 1-3
