Description including Unit Aims

The unit develops integral calculus, differential equations, vectors and matrices roughly from GCSE to A

level standard, bearing in mind the needs of students of the sciences.

Aims: To develop integral calculus, differential equations, vectors and matrices as useful tools.

Relation to Other Units: This unit follows on from Introductory Foundation

Mathematics.

Intended Learning Outcomes

At the end of the unit students should be able to:

• Apply techniques of integration

• work with functions of two or more variables

• manipulate and use complex numbers, vectors and matrices

Teaching Information

Lectures, small group classes, problem sheets.

Assessment Information

2.5 hour written exam
