Technology is ubiquitous and is increasingly used in educational settings and by learners to further their own, personalised learning. This unit will help participants to evaluate a variety of tools, approaches and methods with a view to enhancing their teaching/ learning. It will introduce some key concepts in TEL, taking a critical approach to the research in the context of educational theory and evidence based teaching. It will also look at pragmatic issues and will require participants to implement TEL tool(s) or strategies within their own teaching/learning.
The unit will appeal to those who already use TEL but also to anyone keen to embrace new developments to support their teaching and also their own learning. It will not include training in the use of TEL tools.
Aims This module aims to introduce learners to key concepts and practices relating to using technology to enhance teaching/learning within the health professions. It also aims to equip them to use technology enhanced learning in their own learning and teaching.

TEL tools will also be used in pre-study day work and/or in between study days
The summative assignment consists of a presentation (duration 25 minutes), accompanied by a short, written reflection.
