Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation in Developing Countries

Aims:

  1. To study the relationship between water, sanitation (excreta, wastewater and refuse) and health particularly in developing countries.
  2. To study the socio-economics of water supply and sanitation developing countries.
  3. To study the institutional framework for water supply and sanitation project planning and execution in developing countries.

Intended Learning Outcomes

  1. Understand the complex socio-cultural, geo-political and socio-economic factors affecting water resources and sanitation management in developing countries.
  2. Appreciate the relationship between sanitation and health.
  3. Understand procedures for planning, design and implementation of sound water supply, excreta, wastewater and refuse management systems.
