David Lane, Playwright in Residence
8 December 2016
David Lane has been resident part-time as a Writing Fellow in the Theatre Department since the beginning of October, supporting students with their own work and delving into the Theatre Collection archive as inspiration for a new play. The enormity of the collection, the contradictions of ‘the archive’ as both place and concept, how its dormant stories are activated and changed by human imagination, the transformative experiences of those who enter it and how archived puppets might fit into the frame too, have been his research focus this term. You can read more about his writing research so far here.
The Department of Theatre is very grateful to the family of Phillipa Tatham and the Cilcennin Fund for supporting this activity.
