What's on at the Bristol Big Give 2022?

The Bristol Big Give 2022 continues to support the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and local charities. Due to COVID-19, the Big Give looked a bit different last year, however, we are hopeful that we can have things back to normal in 2022.

We are asking students at the University and private accommodation to repurpose, swap or donate their ‘unwanted’ items. The campaign continues through the summer, and we encourage students moving out to take home what they can or donate these items. You can access British Heart Foundation donation boxes at University Halls and central donation points such as

  1. The Richmond Building

  1. Senate House Cafe

  2. Biomedical Sciences Building

Once you have sorted through what you're taking home and what you're donating, the next step is to see what can be recycled. Information on what can be recycled and your collection days is available from Bristol Waste Company

In 2021, despite the delays and challenges due to Covid-19, the campaign raised £73,332 for the charity through 42 tonnes of donated reusable goods. Donations included unwanted clothes, books, duvets, electrical goods and much more at 32 British Heart Foundation donation banks across the city. Students donated an additional 12 tonnes of food at the University of Bristol for the Trussell Trust. Through the Bristol Big Give, 42 tonnes of goods were diverted from landfill last year.

This annual campaign is organised by the University of Bristol, University of Bristol Students' Union, the University of West England (UWE), the University of the West of England Students' Union (UWESU), and the British Heart Foundation.
