About MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering with a Year in Industry

One of the broadest engineering disciplines, electrical and electronic engineering uses cutting-edge technology to address some of the major concerns of the modern world. There is growing demand for skilled graduates to work in industries such as consumer electronics, alternative energy and transport, medical engineering and communications.

This Year in Industry degree provides the opportunity to spend your third year applying the knowledge gained in the first two years of study in an industrial environment. There is no direct entry on to this course but you can transfer from MEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering after year two if you reach a high academic standard and are successful at interview with industry. Places are limited and highly competitive.

Years one and two provide a strong grounding in mathematics, computing, analogue and digital electronics, communications, electromagnetics, power electronics and control. You will spend your third year on a placement in industry.

In the fourth and fifth years you will choose from a range of optional units and individual project topics, which means you can focus on anything from electrical power systems to electronic communications.

Through our close collaboration with industry, you will benefit from excellent employment prospects. Recent graduate employers include Intel, the BBC, Dyson, Jaguar Land Rover, Siemens, Hewlett-Packard, EDF Energy and many others.

Access to HE Diploma offerPass Access to HE Diploma (Engineering, Engineering Science, Maths and Engineering, Science, or Science and Engineering) with 30 credits at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit. At least 15 graded level 3 credits at Distinction in Mathematics and 12 graded level 3 credits at Distinction in another science subject. The Mathematics units taken should include study of calculus, algebra and trigonometry. Plus A in A-level Mathematics or achieving the required level in the University of Bristol Mathematics Test.
BTEC offer DDD in Engineering plus either A in A-level Mathematics or achieving the required level in the University of Bristol Mathematics Test
