Staff in the School for Policy Studies ran a training seminar on Wednesday 14 March for Service User Advisors linked to the PROVIDE and TARA projects.

As the role of patient and public involvement in research (PPI) has increased, so too has the need for researchers to provide appropriate support and training for those being asked to engage with the research process.

The half day seminar including presentations and discussions about the purpose of research; an overview of different types of research methods, including randomized control trials; ethics and governance; and finally, an opportunity to discuss the role of advisors within research.

The feedback from the participants was very positive, and will inform other similar seminars in the future.
