'The Role of Technology in Achieving Sustainable Development'

Professor Sun-Jin Yun of the Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Seoul National University is delivering this lecture in her role as IAS Benjamin Meaker Visiting Professor.

Professor Sun Jin Yun of Seoul National University will speak about the role of technology in achieving sustainable development. She lectures in Global Environmental Management and also carries out research with the Environmental Planning Institute and Asia Institute for Energy, Environment, and Sustainability. In addition, she is a member of several committees of Korea’s Ministry for the Environment and is Editor in Chief of the Journal of Environmental Studies and the author of numerous papers.

This discussion is part of a project, supported by Cabot Institute Innovation Funds, which aimed to provide a landmark series of seminars on the theme of Transition Engineering, drawing on contributions from leading researchers and practitioners from across the globe. Transition Engineering defines the study of how we can move towards sustainable resource consumption and low carbon lifestyles in the face of population growth, dwindling fossil fuel reserves and the threats of climate change. Each speaker was asked to address the question, "What are the challenges facing society and highest priority actions that need to be taken in transitioning to a low carbon economy with sustainable resource consumption?”
