Swimming Pool refurbishment
As you my be aware, failure of the water management systems at the swimming pool, which comprises of water circulation, treatment and filtration, has been responsible for numerous closures over the past 18 months. This has been really frustrating for everyone but the current system is now in need of a complete refurbishment.
The University will be investing in the replacement of all these systems. The work is costing in the region of £300,000 and will deliver a much more reliable swimming pool experience for all our visitors. We are also designing the new circulation system to operate more efficiently with fewer chemicals, which will reduce the swimming pools' carbon footprint.
The work is expected to be completed ready for September/October. We are unable to provide a set date at this stage due to the manufacturing of some of the parts required being affected by Covid-19.
The following programmed activity is still suspended:
- B:Active Campus
- B:Active Residences
- Fitness classes
- Community Exercise
- Swim School
If you are returning to the Gym or Classes after the covid-closure, please watch the two short videos below to familiarise yourself with our new policies, put in place to keep you safe when you visit us.
