A Musical/Poetic collaboration between HUMS and MUSIC

A musical/poetic collaboration between HUMS and Music (as part of an international composers' concert) is taking place in the Victoria Rooms (Queens Rd, Bristol BS8 1SA) on Sunday 5 February 2017 at 7.30–9.00pm.

Free entry.

The concert includes Gavin D'Costa (Professor of Religion, HUMS) and John Pickard (Professor of Composition, Music) who have collaborated to produce a ten-minute musical work, Daughters of Zion. The underlying poem was written by Gavin in response to Dr Kati Ihnat's research findings about 11th century Christian anti-Jewish liturgies. He has related her research to modern Christian-Jewish relations. John's score is for mezzo-soprano and chamber ensemble. It will be premiered by the Kokoro Ensemble (Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra). A recording will be published on CD later in 2017.
