We are having a book launch in Bristol on 30 January 2014. Archbishop Kevin McDonald will speak on 'Identity and Change: The Church in and after the Second Vatican Council' at St James Priory Church, Bristol (Whitson Street, Bristol, BS1 3NZ). The event begins at 7.00 and finishes at 8.30 with drinks and nibbles after.

Archbishop Kevin McDonald has for many years been closely involved in issues that have become major concerns for the Church since the Second Vatican Council. For eight years he worked in Rome in the Pontifical Council for Christian Unity, with special responsibility for Anglican and Methodist relations. As a parish priest and a bishop he has moved into the area of interreligious dialogue and was responsible for the production of Meeting God in Friend and Stranger,  a document published by the Bishops' Conference of England and Wales which sought to apply the teaching of Vatican II on other religions to the situation in this country.

In his talk he will draw on this experience to address the question of how the implementation of the  teaching of Vatican II  has impacted upon the Church's understanding of its own role and profile in the world today.

The book will be available at reduced price at the event.
