Intro to Research Grant Applications (Science & Engineering) - Part 1 of 2 - June

The Research Development Team (based within RED) will be running a workshop “Introduction to Research Grant Applications” which will be offered to colleagues within the Faculties of Engineering and Science.

This workshop consists of two sessions – Part 1 and Part 2 – and you are strongly encouraged to attend both sessions to gain a good introductory overview of research grant applications. Currently, the following sessions are scheduled for this academic year.  Please follow the links to register via Eventbrite:

When you register for a Part 1 session, please make sure you also register for one of the sessions advertised for Part 2. You do not need to attend the two parts in consecutive months, but must have attended Part 1 before attending Part 2. We expect to continue to offer these sessions regularly in the next academic year.

This workshop will give you an introductory overview and will explore the following topics:

Part 1

  • the funding environment
  • types of grants available for your discipline
  • what you need to take into account when choosing a funder

Part 2

  • the basic anatomy of a grant application
  • the research funding application and assessment process
  • what support is available to you within the University

The workshop is aimed at those new to applying for research funding and who plan to submit a proposal during the next year or so. Please be aware that there will be some offline pre-sessional materials made available at least one week before Part 1 and two weeks before Part 2, the material will aid discussions in the respective sessions. sessions.
