Sarah Griffiths awarded Exploratory Impact Award to develop emotion recognition app for autism

Sarah Griffiths has been awarded an Exploratory Impact Award grant from the ESRC’s Impact Acceleration Account to develop a tablet app for teaching emotion recognition to children with autism spectrum disorder in schools.

Sarah will be working with app programmer Nigel Derrett and special needs teachers at Fosseway School to come up with a design for the educational app, which will be based on the findings of research in to emotion recognition carried out by TARG. Funds will be spent on running focus groups with teaching professionals, and producing a user-friendly app interface with the help of a professional designer.
