The Sixth Peter Townsend Memorial Conference

27-29 April 2021 (online)

Conference Poster Submissions

The Bristol Poverty Institute (BPI) are delighted to announce that we will be hosting the Sixth Peter Townsend Memorial Conference in April 2021 entitled Poverty and the Sustainable Development Goals: from the Local to the Global. This international, interdisciplinary online conference will feature a range of sessions across three days, including formal presentations, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities. We aim to attract a broad audience, representing the public, private, and civil sectors alongside academics from across the globe at all career stages from PhD researchers to world-leading professors.

We are now inviting submissions for our poster sessions. We welcome submissions from either individuals or teams, and particularly encourage inter- and transdisciplinary and/or international collaborations, provided that your proposed poster topic has a clear link to poverty.

Posters can be used to disseminate research findings, share policy approaches, communicate methodologies, and/or propose new areas for exploration. The poster sessions will be run through our interactive FourWaves platform, which allows poster authors the option of uploading slides, images, and/or diagrams alongside a pdf of their poster. We are also exploring options to include a short video introducing the poster concept, please let us know if you think this would be beneficial to you.

The posters will be available for registered conference attendees to view throughout the conference, where they will be able to submit written questions and comments to the authors. We will also have two dedicated interactive poster sessions where attendees will be able to join poster authors in a video chat (maximum eight participants, per poster at a time). The sessions are:

  • Wednesday 28 April 12:30-14:00 (UK time)
  • Thursday 29 April 12:00-13:00 (UK time)

Poster authors should therefore please make sure they, or one of their team, are available to attend these sessions, to maximum the benefit of this opportunity. Please note that only registered conference attendees are able to submit posters.

Areas of focus could include, for example, but are not limited to:

  • Gender
