Introduction to Economic Evaluation - Online

Our introductory short course covers the principles of health economics and the basic elements of economic evaluation from conception, through design, data collection and analysis, to interpretation and use in decision making.

The course is intended for clinicians, public health specialists and researchers who are, or will be, involved in the conduct of research projects that evaluate the cost-effectiveness of health care. The course will also be useful for professionals who would like a better understanding of the quality and clinical practice implications of economic evaluations published in the medical literature.

No previous experience or knowledge of economics is required.

Introduction to Qualitative Methods for Health Economics

The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to the use of qualitative methods in health economics research. The usefulness of qualitative techniques in informing health economics dilemmas will be discussed and participants will receive guidance on core practical techniques around sampling, data collection and data analysis.

This coures is biennial and will next be run in the 2021-2022 academic year. 

Economic Evaluation Modelling Using R - Online

This course aims to teach the use of R for building decision tree and Markov models for economic evaluation and value of information analysis.

  1. Build a decision tree model
  2. Build a Markov model
  3. Incorporate uncertainty in model inputs in an economic model
  4. Conduct a value of information analysis
