Bristol Randomised Trials Collaboration

The BRTC designs and conducts high quality pragmatic randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in primary and secondary care, as well as non-NHS settings such as schools and in public health. We also undertake complex trials and feasibility studies which include methodological research.  We currently have 27 open trials to a value of approximately £30million.

The BRTC has considerable expertise in the key methodologies needed to design, conduct and analyse RCTs including large multicentre trials. The BRTC works with clinicians and researchers from across the UK, starting with the grant application, so please approach us at the earliest opportunity if you are interested in working with us or email us on

We are part of the Bristol Trials Centre within the University of Bristol, along with our sister unit Clinical Trials and Evaluation Unit (CTEU).

This unit receives National Institute for Health Research CTU Support Funding. This funding has been awarded to support the unit in developing and supporting NIHR trials.  The BRTC is a UK Clinical Research Collaboration registered CTU and in the NCRI Cancer Clinical Trials Group.
