Congratulations to Dr Laura Fox (BCFN 2015 PhD cohort) and co-authors including Lauren Matthews and Supakit Pichai (both BCFN 2016 PhD cohort) on the recent publication of their paper "Structural changes in lipid mesophases due to intercalation of dendritic polymer nanoparticles: Swollen lamellae, suppressed curvature, and augmented structural disorder," in the Journal Acta Biomaterialia. The paper describes the study of a model system to better understand the interaction of nanoparticles with lipid membranes, a topic with potentially important implications for nanotoxicity. The work was carried out in the group of Dr Wuge Briscoe (School of Chemistry) and involved extensive scattering measurements at the Diamond Light Source.  Laura also recently successfully passed her PhD viva and has now started a postdoctoral position in Manchester.
