Dr Chrissy Hammond - UK Space Agency Project

19 October 2017

Dr Chrissy Hammond from the School of Physiology Pharmacology and Neuroscience and Professor Kate Robson Brown, from the Departments of Anthropology and Archaeology, and Mechanical Engineering, have been awarded UK Space agency funding for their MARZ project (Musculoskeletal and Auditory Responses in Zebrafish) to develop a zebrafish model to study how the tissues of the spine and the ear respond to microgravity. A proportion of the funding will be used to bring a team of experts, including astronauts and scientists that have flown experiments on the ISS, to Bristol for a workshop and we hope to be able to host a public event with talks on biology in space.
