I am an interdisciplinary scholar of ancient history, with a particular interest in the way that history has been framed, represented, and received in a range of media, from ancient historiography to contemporary historical fiction. My research brings together interests in Classical Reception, media theory, and historiography with sociological theories of framing to investigate modes of historical understanding as they are presented in literature, film, and digital media.

Currently, I am working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Ancient Greek History and Virtual Reality on the AHRC-funded Project ‘The Virtual Reality Oracle (VRO): An Immersive Experience of the Ancient Greek Oracle at Dodona'. Alongside this, I am researching for a project that includes an assessment of the way video games are shaping new forms of public history.

My PhD (University of Bristol, 2019) made the case for the existence of the ‘historical frame’, defined as an (in)tangible border around historical materials that shapes their reception, which I used to describe the impact of historical fiction set in late antiquity on the historical imagination.
