Biography
Jeremy is an Associate Professor in Social Sciences and Health at The Centre for Academic Primary Care (CAPC), Bristol Medical School. Jeremy co-leads the Behavioural and Qualitative Science Team for National Institute for Health Research Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Research Collaboration West (NIHR ARC West). He is also Intervention Optimisation and Implementation Theme co-lead for NIHR Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Behavioural Science and Evaluation.
Jeremy is a social scientist with a background in psychology. He uses a range of qualitative and mixed method approaches in the development and evaluation of complex interventions/health services. He has an interest in developing pragmatic and collaborative intensive qualitative methods to support more effective implementation of healthcare innovation. He has expertise in the integration of qualitative methods with randomised controlled trials to improve their design and conduct. Jeremy co-convene the EQUATe: ‘Excellence in QUAlitative research in Trials’ research group.
His research interests including users' experience of health and health services, acceptability of clinical interventions, clinical decision-making, infectious diseases, primary care, public health, sexual health and digital health

Jeremy has been involved in successful grant applications from the UK’s National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), including NIHR Programme Grants for Applied Research (PGfAR); NIHR Health Technology Assessment (HTA) programme and NIHR School for Primary Care Research and also Medical Research Council (MRC), Public Health England, The Royal College of General Practitioners and charities.
