I am a medically qualified Epidemiologist with an interest in applied child health research. I am currently working a Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit, following one year of research at the University of Bristol Centre for Public Health on the use of systems approach in policy evaluation. Prior to this, I spent five years working as a Research Associate at the UCL Institute of Child Health Children’s Policy Research Unit (CPRU) on a Department of Health-funded program, where I managed and analysed large-scale national and international routinely collected clinical datasets (>60K patients) to investigate the role of health services in improving outcomes for children with diabetes in England & Wales and other six high-income countries. Methodological research topics that have featured in my previous research include longitudinal analysis methods using multilevel models to account for complex hierarchical data structures, multiple imputation methods for handling missing data, and meta-analysis of observational studies and randomised trials. I originally qualified in Medicine at the University of Athens and then followed an academic pathway which culminated in my obtaining an MSc in Paediatric Research with distinction and gaining an MRC Scholarship from the University of Cambridge to study for an MPhil in Epidemiology. In 2018, I earned my PhD in Child Health Epidemiology from UCL. I have also practised clinically in both Greece and the NHS.
