Research interests
I work in the University's Cryptography Group where most of my time is spent researching and developing side channel attacks on cryptographic primitives. My current research focuses on the concept of compilation induced leakage, whereby the inadvertant mapping of high level software to various different low-level architectures can involve the introduction of specific instructions that can induce leakage.
My past research also includes developing a democratised platform for side-channel analysis called "SCA3S". This was centred firmly around power analysis and involved developing an end-to-end platform that linked target devices with specific kernels and acquisition parameters via a web-based GUI. This allowed researchers to extract power trace data from targets in real time to facilitate side channel analysis.
Whilst maintaining this position at the University, I also run a cyber security company called Ultra Horizon which primarily specialises in developing obfuscated VPN technology to aid in censorship circumvention around the world.
