Biography
I trained as a psychologist in Brazil, completing a BSc in Psychology at the Federal University of Piauí and an MSc by Research in Social Psychology at the Federal University of Paraíba. I later moved to the UK to pursue a PhD in Psychology at the University of Bath. Following my doctoral training, I held academic positions across several UK universities and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advance HE).
My research programme examines how close and romantic relationships develop and function across different contexts. Drawing on social, evolutionary, and cultural psychology, my work investigates the psychological processes underlying relationship satisfaction, conflict, attachment, and partner strategies. I have published on topics such as mate retention, jealousy, and online relationship dynamics, as well as work involving scale validation and meta analytic approaches. More recently, my research has expanded to explore how emerging technologies, including dating applications and generative AI, are shaping relationship experiences and outcomes.
