As part of my undergraduate degree, I spent a year at the secure printing firm De La Rue working on the development of photolithographic techniques for currency security features.

I then went on to join the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Aerosol Science at the University of Bristol, where I completed an MRes in Aerosol Science. As part of this, I spent time with the Bristol Aerosol Research Centre (BARC) working on improving density calculation for internally mixed aerosols. Following this I went on to complete a PhD at the University of Bath. My research focused on the development of metal oxide precursors, that could be deposited by aerosol-assisted deposition processes, to give thin film semiconductors.

I have spent time working in University Technology Transfer, helping researchers see the commercial potential in their work, and in teaching technical support. I currently work as a specialist research technician in the Organic Geochemistry Unit.","postNominals":"MChem, PhD","websiteLink":null,"email":"ellie.vokes@bristol.ac.uk","telephone":[],"snippet":"Working with Dr Charlotte Lloyd on the characterisation and quantification of organic compounds in various matrices (water, soil and plant matter).","teaching":null,"researchInterest":null,"relatedPeople":[],"positions":{"external":[],"internal":[{"role":"Specialist Technician","organisation":"School of Geographical Sciences","url":"http://www.bristol.ac.uk/geography/","tag":"School","active":true}]},"publications":{"total":"0","linkToPublications":null,"all":[],"highlighted":[]},"thesis":null,"researchProjects":{"total":0,"linkToProjects":null,"projects":[]},"thesisSupervisions":{"total":0,"linkToSupervisions":null,"supervisions":[]}},"site":{"siteMetadata":{"title":"Our People"}}},"pageContext":{"id":"b6bd3481-bc05-4f38-8c35-18db8067d3de","profileType":"STAFF","firstName":"Ellie","lastName":"Vokes","title":"Dr","profilePicture":"https://ewp-profileimages.services.bristol.ac.uk/v1/images/b6bd3481-bc05-4f38-8c35-18db8067d3de","postNominals":"MChem, PhD","email":"ellie.vokes@bristol.ac.uk","embedded":false,"featureToggles":{"research":true,"researchProjects":true,"thesisSupervisions":true,"thesis":true,"allPositions":true,"searchFilters":true}}},"staticQueryHashes":["2510609168","3397900109"]}
