Practice and History and Research

This roundtable of scholars working in performances past while practicing research and performances present will discuss the challenges of doing practice as research in historical fields.  Some of the scholars already theorize their work in this manner, others have come to practice as a necessary component for understanding and for doing research in earlier periods of performance history.  The roundtable will also bring scholars from the US together with those from the UK in a transatlantic conversation about practice as research in historical fields.  The practice components range from performance experiments to pedagogical methods of practice as exploration and elucidation.
