Green Impact

We love the earth and are actively participating in the University's Green Impact Award scheme.

We achieved Gold status in 2015 and Platinum in 2016. In 2016 we received the Special Award for Environmental Hero and our Fairtrade Cafe won the Student Leadership award.

Being green

Like the University, we are committed to being green. As well as implementing standard University green policies, we have undertaken a wide range of initiatives, based on the principles Reduce, Re-use, Recycle.  These include:

  • purchasing recycled paper for our copier
  • buying organic bottled milk
  • getting our furniture recovered rather than buying new
  • running a vegetarian kitchen
  • maintaining our own kitchen garden
  • composting our food waste in our garden

We use our own veg in our weekly Soup Lunches and use the herbs to make delicious caffeine-free hot drink.

We have a Green Policy 2016 (PDF, 186kB) and encourage members of the Multifaith Chaplaincy Team and all who use the building to play a part in making sure the success of green activities continue and there are several ways we can all help.
