Twins

Twins

A depiction of twins ‘in utero’ from a Venetian printing in 1536 of a Latin translation of Eucharius Roeslin’s treatise on childbirth, ‘De partu hominis’. Originally published in German, it became a leading textbook on midwifery in the early modern era. Numerous depictions of different presentations are an arresting feature of the work.
