Software and database projects

The Research IT team has extensive experience in software development using many different programming languages and frameworks.

The team are often involved in the design and optimisation of databases, creating tools for data collection, the creation of mobile applications and producing specialist websites and other applications.

Sysadmin support

For a standard facility day rate, Research IT can help researchers with Sysadmin.

Programming support

For a standard facility day rate, Research IT can help researchers optimise and port their code or scripts, as well as help with choosing appropriate tools and languages. Research IT can also advise on code management, packaging and distribution.

The Advanced Computing Research Centre (ACRC) team can advise on parallel programming and adapting your job scripts to run on Bristol's High Performance Computing clusters, as well as give advice on parallelising your existing code.

The ACRC team also run workshops where you can seek help on any computational subject, e.g. scripting, programming, profiling, debugging or optimisation.
